Assessment of Civic Space for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

Sep 20, 2019

COCAP brought together 78 civil society members on September 20, 2019 to assess how civic space to work on SDG 16 is shrinking and shifting. The participants analyzed and ranked different elements of civic space (freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, freedom of association, security and well-being for HRDs, Dialogue and Consultation, Diversity and Solidarity). The workshop was part of the global SPEAK! Campaign that is initiated by CIVICUS. The assessment showed that civic space to work on peace, justice and strong institutions is obstructed and shrinking in Nepal. More detailed results can be found in the Workshop Report.
