COCAP’s convenorship in the 13th HR National Magna Meet

As COCAP was selected as the convener for the Magna Meet this year (2021), we left no stone unturned to make it among the successful events of the whole Magna Meet series. The Meet took place from 8th to 14th December and COCAP takes pride to be holding all the concerned sequential programs in an efficacious manner. In a very limited time after the handover, it made sure the event is noted as one of the biggest events of Human Rights this year with the 39-point declaration it issued on the final day.

Closing ceremony of the 13th Human Rights National Magna Meet was held in presence of Chief guest Honorable Minister for Urban Development Ram Kumari Jhakri at Nepal Academy Hall, Kathmandu on Dec 14. Some of the special guests were Honorable Chairman at Madhesi Commission Dr. Vijay Kumar Datta, Honorable Chairman at National Dalit Commission Devraj Bishwokarma, Honorable Chairperson at Muslim Commission Samin Miya Ansari, Honourable Chairperson at National Women Commission Kamala Parajuli, Human Rights activist and founder of the Human Rights National Magna Meet Charan Prasain, Veteran Researcher and Academician Prof Kapil Shrestha and Human Rights Activist Shantalaxmi Shrestha among others. The week-long Magna Meet that began from December 8, concluded today with the issuance of the 39-point Declaration that will be sent to various concerned government ministries and bodies so as to ensure effective implementation of the same. The event, held by abiding by the Covid-19 safety protocol, saw footfall of notable number of office bearers and dignitaries in the sector of Human Rights including Bhawani Prasad Kharel, Shantalal Mulmi and Sushila Shrestha among others. Also in the event, many intellectuals working under various committees of the Magna Meet were given away recognition certificates and token of love for their generous contribution. The national slogan of the Magna Meet this year was ”विधिको शासन कायम गरौं, मानव अधिकारको सम्मान गरौं”. Marking the 73rd International Human Rights Day, Collective Campaign for Peace COCAP successfully convened the 13th edition of the HR National Magna Meet in a very limited timeframe, which was widely lauded by the concerned personalities and watchdogs. The co-conveners were Freedom for All Nepal FAN and Shanti Foundation.
